A short tale of sickness and fever...
Here I come to rattle your bones!
My blood eyes roll within your skull!
Red tongues loll out,
I spit then start
To make a space for human hearts.
On the Oceans upon the tides
I ink the souls, I poison minds,
From Papua drifting in the breeze
The Borneo coast, the China Seas
Sulawesi and the Balinese –
I breathe with the wind of dread;
Beast to man, the fear is spread.
Shut your eyes!
Shut them tight!
For I come screaming in the night!
Death is just a bawdy game
Should I chance to call your name!
The shadow swallows in the dark
The murder twitches upon the mask,
And I will squeeze your pumping heart!
The prisoner in it’s cage.
No Christian God has currency here,
Catholicism crumbles, Allah disappears
And all other religions too
Are swept away in ridicule.
For I’ve been here since the Dawn of Time
I am yours
And you are mine.
Beyond the light of burning fires
There breathes a fear that does not tire
Paths are lost and hopes expire…
And here he comes to rattle your bones!
His blood eyes roll within your skull!
Red tongues loll out
He spits then starts
To make a space for human hearts!
His butchers knife, his poison dart!
He steals the babies from their cribs
Plays Gamelan on broken ribs,
And fills his gullet with human skin
Till Father Time is done with him.
And here he comes to take the heads
Of those who dream asleep in bed
Immortalize your screaming face
The leather’d relic finds its place –
His Tattoos drip across your skin
He desecrates you from within,
Be you a villain,
Or without Sin…
This night has come to tuck you in.
